Standing quietly by

You stood quietly by while I struggled and suffered these many months not knowing if I would ever recover. You stood quietly by as I broke apart and lost the willingness to continue on. You stood quietly by when I needed help and you gave me exactly the help I needed, without fanfare, drama or complaint. You stood quietly by and joined me in my happiness when my hope was renewed. You stood quietly by and never imposed your will or fear on me. You stood quietly by and never for an instant wavered in your love. Who could have known that standing quietly by is the greatest and most profound gift that can ever be given and received?
